About longer battles, itÆs almost impossible to kill someone 1 on 1, or even 2 on 1 with battleships now, but the next patch should fix that and make gate camping a lot more risky. I do hope that battles last a bit longer though, but I also hope that there was more to fight over. I wish there was something to defend or attack, right now the only success or failure is weather or not you kill the other pilot. ThereÆs no point in staying if you donÆt think youÆre going to win, just warp away or jump out, repair and who cares. The worse thing that happens now is that some pilot infiltrates ôStain Allianceö space, or some pirate is forced to leave a jumpgate and go to another. The devÆs donÆt need to introduce huge indestructible space stations, just as there are many classes of ships, or even sentry guns, they can allow players and corps to have many different classes of ôDefense Platformsö, ôDocking Platformsö and ôStaitionsö.
As a longtime player of ôStar Fleet Battlesö on the tabletop and computer, I enjoyed a VERY balanced combat system that took years and many revisions to develop, but one feature I enjoyed was the possibility of different ships systems getting damaged. In Eve, IÆve had to repair different equipment after battles, but IÆve never heard of someone losing a mounted module, or having their targeting computer damaged and not being able to target. Having their "warpdrive" damaged and only being able to travel in warp at .5au per second, or not at all until they get a repair drone. I think of the ôWriting on the wallö for the ôBismarkö after a torp damaged one of itÆs rudders. It could only go in a ôcounter clockwiseö circle and had to wait hours before the Allied fleet showed up and put it to the bottom.
I love the ôInterdictorö idea, and posted it in beta, but no response. The ship was cool to see in ôX-wing Vs Tie Fighterö, and in the large ôMasters of Orionö type Starwars game. The ship was massive, and to translate, the module would have to almost be the only thing that would be able to be loaded up on a Battleship or Titan, and would have to effect a 50km radius. Frankly, anything that takes battles away from Starbases and Jumpgates sounds good to me.
YouÆre also dead on, as many others have posted, about your suggestions for the market. If there are 17 gunnery type skills, there should be 20 or 30 production skills. I can't remember who, but a large company that makes "Jumbo Jets" has a assembly line that could still hold 2 or 3 football fields... AFTER they put ALL of Disneyland in it. Do you think that just anyone with a bp and a industrial skill can make Battleships, the way it is now they can.
